I was able to fit in a slew of fall portrait sittings in just before the snow blasted Minnesota and this was one of the family sittings. As a photographer, you just have to love that gorgeous fall light coming down through the trees. And this cutie! I did her newborn portraits earlier this year so it was so much fun to see her again. She can even sit up by herself now! More from this sitting soon…
I love how this little newborn is just covering his face like he’s much too shy to have his portrait taken. Sometimes babies have very strong opinions on where there hands will go during newborn portraits so you just have to work with what they want to do. And sometimes it makes for very cute expressions in their portraits :)
It’s so important for senior portraits to be a reflection of the real you. I always advise seniors to plan special outfits, nice hair, and pretty makeup, but not lose their real personality while doing so. This senior told me she didn’t usually wear makeup and liked to keep things casual, so she wore just a little bit of makeup, a cute dress, and went barefoot for most of the sitting. That way she looked nice, but still like herself.
Nothing is sweeter than those perfect little toes and fingers of newborn babies. Sometimes newborn parents are a bit hesitant about buying baby pictures they love like this one because they’re not sure what they’ll do with those portraits. Obviously family pictures and portraits with the baby’s face are the priority, but these little detail portraits can look so sweet hung together in a series: toes, fingers, mouth, eyelashes, bellybutton, etc. I had one client who was going to put her newborn’s detail portraits up in the bathroom which I thought was an adorable idea and perfect for bath time. And of course, they’d look great as an album layout, just waiting for your and your child to marvel together at how tiny they once were.
