Pine Tree Romance

I’ve posted a couple of other portraits from this winter engagement photoshoot, but I wanted to share one last image from this session because it’s incredibly romantic and shows off the gorgeous location. Lisa & David had some insider connections to Jan’s Cut Your Own Christmas Tree Farm up in Clear Lake, MN and they were kind enough to let us use their rustic farm as a backdrop to these engagement portraits. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful locations in which I’ve photographed a portrait session.

Gorgeous Allison

In yesterday’s portrait post, I promised to post a picture of Allison today. At our photoshoot, we decided to do some experimental portrait photography and had a blast coming up with this. Doesn’t Allison look like she belongs in a Noxzema commercial?

Gorgeous Katie

I’ve known Katie for a long time and she just keeps getting more and more gorgeous. It hasn’t been THAT long since I’ve been out of high school, but I don’t think my classmates and I were as poised and photogenic as the juniors and seniors that come to me for senior pictures. Anyway, Katie and Allison (who you’ll  see a portrait of tomorrow) totally rocked this fashion themed photoshoot. Posing alone like this can be incredibly difficult, but Katie makes it look effortless.

Diamond Solitaire

I promised to post more photos from our Christmas tree farm engagement photoshoot and this one is a favorite. You should have seen us trying to get this engagement ring to balance perfectly on the tip of this branch. The bride and I tried in vain to make it stay while my assistant held a reflector underneath to protect it from the snow  just in case it decided to fall. Just when we thought our fingers were going to fall off from frostbite, the ring and branch cooperated, allowing me to get this photo. And isn’t this ring just to die for? So lovely.

Lisa & David

We were all a bit frozen from this engagement session at a Christmas tree farm near St. Cloud, but the beautiful images were worth it. For this image, the sun decided to poke its head out of the clouds and warm us all up, as well as gives us some artistic sun flare. Lisa & David were such a fun couple to work with and, as you can see, incredibly photogenic. More to come from this engagement session in the next couple of days…

A Little Bit of Bling

As a portrait photographer, it’s always fun to change things up and photograph landscapes or little details. In fact, one of my favorite things about photographing weddings is the photographic diversity. A wedding photographer has to jump from landscapes to detail shots to group photographer to photojournalist to portrait photographer very quickly. And I always love the simple beauty of ring shots.
